Anglage measures a mechanical watch's rate, beat error, and
amplitude using the phone's microphone. Audio is analyzed on-device and is
never recorded or uploaded.
Getting a good reading
Place the phone flat on a table and rest the watch's
caseback against the back of the phone, near the microphone. A quiet room
and a fully wound watch help. The status indicator turns to LOCKED once the
measurement engine has identified the watch.
Checking for magnetism
On the Measure tab, switch to Magnetism. Lay the phone
flat with the watch away from it while the check zeroes, then slide the
watch over the phone until the reading peaks and tap Next. The first time,
tap the screen where that spot was; a ring marks it from then on. Hold the
watch on the spot, tap Next, flip it over, hold it there again and tap Next.
If the field turns when the watch is flipped, the watch is magnetized and
should be demagnetized before it is regulated. If the result says it cannot
tell, measure the watch's rate: a magnetized watch runs fast. Phones without
a compass sensor do not show the Magnetism switch.
