Anglage Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
Anglage is a watch timegrapher app for iOS and Android. This policy explains what the app does and doesn't do with your data.
Your watch's sound: never collected
Anglage listens to your mechanical watch through the microphone to measure its rate, beat error, and amplitude. All audio is analyzed on your device in real time. It is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. The microphone stream exists only in memory for the duration of a measurement.
What is stored, and where
Measurements you choose to save (rate, beat error, amplitude, position, duration, notes) and the watches you add (name, caliber, specifications, service records, and an optional dial photo) are stored on your device.
Nothing leaves your device unless you sign in. Anglage works fully without an account. If you never sign in, none of your measurements, watches, notes, or photos are ever uploaded.
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, a copy of that data is backed up to our cloud (Google Firebase Firestore) so it can be restored when you reinstall the app or move to a new device. Signing in also gives us the name and email address on the account you signed in with. We use those only to identify your backup. We do not sell them, share them, or use them for advertising.
Dial photos are cropped and re-encoded on your device before they are saved, which removes any location and camera metadata the original photo carried.
You can erase everything at any time: Settings → Delete my data removes all measurements, watches, service records, and photos from both your device and the cloud backup.
Advertising
Anglage is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. The AdMob SDK collects data described in Google's own disclosures, including IP address (coarse location), device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), ad-interaction data, and diagnostics. On iOS, Anglage asks for App Tracking Transparency permission; if you decline, ads still appear but are not personalized using your identifier. Where required, a consent dialog (Google User Messaging Platform) lets you choose your ad preferences.
Ads never appear during a live measurement.
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage (for example, "a measurement was completed"). These events contain no personal information, no audio, and no watch names or notes.
Children
Anglage is not directed at children under 13.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
